me for 4 weeks before taking me home... They are the greatest!!!

Hi..." My name is Gizmo... About 10 years ago a really nice women saved my life at a vet's office... I was
brought in for no reason except being a bird and the people I was staying with insisted I be "put to
sleep!!!" The nice lady took me home and we got to know each other but a man got in the way!!! So I bit him
a lot... He had some nerve trying to take my human... It was decided two years ago that I needed a very
very special home... Sooooo I came to Knapptime to help me find that special home... So I did... I found
the perfect home... The lady has got to be the best in all the world and the man treats me like a
"King..." I am in love!!!
Our names are Gomez (Dusky Headed Conure) and Sweetie (Black Capped Conure)... We were brought to Knapptime
once before but our mommy thought she might be able to push herself a little harder to keep us but it
didn't work... We will always love her for trying... We both looked really hard for that right someone
until we found him... We convinced him that he loves us and now he can't get enough of us and we can't get
enough of him... Thank you KARE...***************************************Sweetie departed for the Rainbow Bridge in January 2005... Sweetie was a fun friend and took the hearts of those that he/she came in contact with. Sweetie passed away in the night with no signs of trauma. Sweetie was taken to a local vet for a necropsy. The only thing we know here at KARE is that Sweetie died of natural causes and will be dearly missed!!!

had to gain... I found a really great home and I have a few other flying friends to play with... They

My name is Dudley... I am a 14 year old Umbrella Cockatoo... KARE picked me up from Wildlife Haven/North
Central Ohio Avian Rescue in Ohio... I tried to be good to the other birds but for some reason Amazons
just make me crazy... I hurt this little guy and so I had to be relocated... But that's ok because I
met these wonderful people that adopted me!!! They have other animals and children to look at and play
with...

special needs bird... I am supposed to be a Fischers Love Bird. I have a deformed beak and trouble
grooming myself. I am so beautiful!!! Everyone loves me and I know this by all the people that visited...
I am sorry all you wonderful humans but I have now been adopted... My new family is great... I still
don't understand why that loud Dudley and Sappy Sweet Billy had to come along... Oh well!!!***************Lovie departed for the Rainbow Bridge on 19 June 2004... Lovie was growing new feathers and new nails... She had started to play with toys and talk up a storm... Lovie was an old bird and as we all know you can't live forever... Hi! My name is George, and I'm a Mollucan cockatoo. I spent two years of my life in a broom closet
prior to coming to Knapptime. (The Vet. thought I was too loud and the broom closet would make a neat home
for me...) Linda and Mike Solack worked hard with me and we fell in love... I give Linda kisses, play catch
with Mike, I enjoy coming out of the cage and checking out the house for new stuff!!! I am happy, love to talk
and watch TV... What more could a wonderful bird like me want!!!

taken with my Mom... My Mom couldn't take me home because her Mommy didn't want to know me... That's ok now

favorite toys are Newspaper, bells and of course a mirror because I am so pretty!!! I like showers... My
last owners loved me but didn't feel they had enough time to spend with such a pretty bird... I really must
tell you this... I found the neatest Mommy in the whole world with the exception of my last Mommy who also
loved me very very much!!! Of course she is almost as pretty as I am but you know how hard it is to find

in my life and healed broken... I came to KARE with my best friend "Gonzo" and he was handicapped also...
Poor Gonzo left me for the Rainbow Bridge 27 July 2004... I was crushed!!! I know I will see him again some day
but for now I have a new and wonderful Mommy and a really "big" mirror... 
"Hi sweetie..." My name is Brittany and I am a Marble Gray Cockatiel... I enjoy noise and good music... I
like to be held and play with toys I can tear up... Ok first of all I know I'm a male Cockatiel but with a
name like "Brittany" you know other birds don't want to pick a fight with me!!! When you're brought up with a
girls name like the "Duke" was, you learn how to defend yourself... I have a reakky neat mirror! There are a number of other
birds here that try to look in "MY" mirror but they can't "jump" like me or stay in front as long because it's
"MY" mirror... Mom I'm really trying to share but they anoy me!!! ;o)
My name is Lucky... I am about 4 years old... My best friend and owner died so I came to Knapptime on 3
August 2004... I love bananas and bells... I have a rather large vocabulary... I do have problems with
change so I require some patients... I have another Dad now but I still really miss my first Dad... There are
a number of other birds like me at my new home so I'm not so lonely... My Dad gives us only the best food
and makes us the best tear up toys... I have grown to enjoy helping my Dad by giving him really cool and
large messes to clean up... I know he loves me too because he lets me watch Sci Fi with him. I love him and he
loves to clean up after me!!!

have to work a number of jobs to pay the bills and I just needed more time

the floor looking up at things... I really like my name and love to repeat it... I love Scrambled eggs, Corn
on the cob, Large Harrison's pellets... I get "jealous" easily when around other birds and I mutilate my
feathers when bored and I think they said at KARE it might be becoming a habit... I bite when I get to
excited and when a woman moves in on my man... Kids annoy me so I chase them and bite if they don't yell
enough... The Hsu's were really great to me, loved me and taught me a lot while they fostered, Thank you!!!

Hi, my name is Lulu... I came to Knapptime in late 2004... I've had a pretty good life as I'm in my teens...
When I arrived at Knapptime I was malnourished and frail... I was adopted by the Hsu's and listen to
what they think of me... Lulu is "our elderly little baby." and "He is doing so well, and is very happy! He
plays and chews on his toys leaving a little pile of scraps. He is famous for stealing kisses and we love him
so." Are they not the greatest??? I love them too!!!
Arby's the name... Hi, I'm an African bird also... I am a 3 year old Red Belly Senegal... I enjoy cabbage and
carrots... I am very sneaky and can get past you when you open my door... I am a special bird and require a
special home without other birds... *** I was sent to Knapptime because I played to hard with a Parakeet and
killed him. *** I do bite but I am working on that issue... Great news!!! I have a new Mommy and she is great...

Hello!!! My name is Mac... I came to KARE on 26 June 2004... I am 23 years old... I like to play really hard
with my toys... I love to do tricks... I do not like children and some times I get jealous... Don't even
think about putting on a hat and glasses then sneaking up on me... "Guess what I have," that's right a new Mom
and Dad!!! I have this really cool Mom and the Dad is awesome... I get all the loving any bird could every
want and I get to stay up late...
My name is Keetu and I am a Mitered Conure... My person died not to long ago and I am having a few problems
with that... I am a good hider and a fast runner!!! I do step up but people are kind of strange... You're not
going to believe this!!! This really great guy came to Knapptime and started helping out so I threw him a
few seeds... "Get this," he started hanging around my cage and all I had to do was reel him in!!!
He gets me Orange Juice and Graham Crackers... I let him pick me up a few times and I saw LOVE in his eyes...
His Mom, Knapptime and I delayed going home with him... We tricked him, and his parents snuck over to Knapptime
and got me as a secret Christmas present... "WOW," was he surprised!!! I think I like his family...

"Hi!!!" My name is Ricky and I am a Peachface Lovebird... I like children, Look at me play with Elanna... I was
given Sanctuary KARE for well over a year but my best friend started growing up and didn't come around for a long
time... I met another wonderful and really cute girl who I've fallen in love with named Elanna. She shows me
to every one and she has a really great family... I like her father almost as much as Elanna... Elanna is mine!!!
Ricky was adopted in February 2005...***************************Ricky departed for the Rainbow Bridge in mid June 2005... Ricky was a fun friend to all and never met anyone that he didn't like... Ricky was a great educational bird as he enjoyed showing off but mostly just liked making Elanna and her new family proud... Rickey came to KARE with Gabby, Gomez and Sweetie whom we were notified of his or her passing earlier this year... Ricky like Sweetie passed away in the night with no signs of trauma. Ricky was taken to a local vet for a necropsy. Ricky had a tumor which restricted the blood flow from the heart which took Ricky suddenly and with out warning... The staff at KARE and all those who met Ricky will miss him greatly... Our hearts or saddened and Ricky we all will meet you at the Rainbow Bridge... Until then rest well and we love you!!! My last family really loved me but didn't have enough time for me and I

was adopted by one of the wonderful KARE volunteers... Her Father is
pretty cool too... I live with a few other birds I met at KARE and we
started our on flock...

transferred to Knapptime 27 October 2004 from the Capital Area Humane
Society to care for and to place in good homes... I was adopted by a boy
named Conner and his little brother, well his mom had to fill out the
paperwork... I get lots of kisses and all I have to do is lift one little

name is Chiquita, for obvious reasons... Chiquita befriended a green
Indian Ringneck called "Zuki." Chiquita started settling down and a
started noticing how all the good birds got special treats and found
perfect families... So!!! Chiquita and Zuki double teamed this really nice
lady and the results were greater than imagined... Zuki and I have a great
family and were treated like two little fat kings and lov'n

4 year old "Green" Indian Ringneck Parakeet... I'm a nice bird out of my
cage but don't bother me in my cage... I am very camera shy... I love to
chew up Balsa wood toys and paper... Drop by and I'll let you can crack a
few nuts for me... My friend Chiquita and I found a wonderful and fun
family... Chiquita is so smart... I really love my new mom!!! Thank you

 I'm "Shalimar," a Moluccan Cockatoo... I
have several deformities... I have very dry skin and I use a humidifier...
I need lot's of Calcium because my feathers and nails are weak... I am
between 18 and 19 years old... My right leg was broken not to long ago
when I fell off my stand... I had pins in my leg from surgery but they
were removed... I get nose infections a lot and I have a bum foot still...
I really like people and lots of attention... My mommy got very sick and
has trouble breathing so she ask Knapptime to help me find a wonderful
home just like hers! Well as quit as I am it didn't take long until I
found a great new mom and a really super wonderful dad... He has a few
problems like I have with broken parts and stuff but I hear they are
trying to fix him, Och! That hurts me to even think
about...
 My name is Chewy... I am 6 or 7 years
old... I love to be held and scritched... Knapptime went to Ohio at Bird
Placement Program and took me in because the nice lady there needed a
little help... I am a Moluccan Cockatoo... I love out of cage time, bells,
things you can tear up and lots to eat... I like a good shower every other
day because I am a clean bird... I have a new cage from Knapptime and even
though it cost lots of money to fix their van to come and get me, they
still love me!!! I was adopted in early June 2005... You miss your golden
opportunity... I hear Knapptime still gets some call about my childish
ways but I'll grow out of it... I'm hard to love but I'm worth the time
and effort I promiss...

my game... I'm very sweet for a Yellow-Napped Amazon... I am 3 years old
so I have not reached my adolescence and what's a hormone??? I came to
KARE January 16th, 2005... My favorite foods are papaya, nuts, Potatoes,
grapes, cheez-its and shells-n-cheese... I talk..... ... .. "a lot"!!! I
do not like most guys and children make me nervous... I am a bit nippy...
I do not believe it I found a really great skinny guy who gives me all of
his food!!! I'm in love, thank you Knapptime...
